We have won a new project to complete a new brand identity, and full set of marketing collateral for a new estate agent. The start-up is looking to stand out as something fresh in their market for their area, and so would like a brand identity to match. We have completed some early workshopping working on defining the personality of the brand, and are now in the conceptual design phase for the visualising this into an identity. I will look forward to uploading the work to the portfolio!
I was on my way back from taking pictures for a client in North Somerset when the moon came out low on the horizon at dusk... I stopped and shot these out of the window! Not sure why the moon appeared to be so close tot he earth!
We like this! We were asked to complete some vehicle graphics for one of our clients new vans. We thought we would give them some more adventurous options than the brief asked for, and they have been chosen and signed off! I’ll look forward to seeing them about.
The other day we found time for a working lunch at the Tate Modern, all because we recently attended a lecture by Andy Altman of the Why Not Associates, talking through his portfolio at the Watershed in Bristol. His work has been an inspiration to a generation of graphic designers; thinking back I moved to Bristol as a graduate with only what would fit in the boot of a borrowed car, but included were two of Why Not Associates' books!
So in homage to the viewing of their portfolio, and with an hour in between meetings in the city, we headed for the Tate Modern to see their posters... It says something (as an art lover too) that we headed for the Tate to see the marketing material as opposed to the material it is marketing!
As I was looking through the free ads paper put through my door, I came across this advert for Top Notch, a gentleman painter. It jumped out to me as it has a brand personality, that you don't normally see in such ads, as illustrated by the others on the same page.
The Top Notch ad illustrates a central organising thought; that you need a courteous person in your home to decorate, one that takes care. The advert makes me feel that to get Top Notch in would be like getting a butler in! So he has a great name for communicating his brand values, a very clear proposition AND a clear call to action.
Good job Colin... or do you have a friend who is in to brand communication?!
WOW! If you're in Bristol, you have to check out The Lanes. It's ace! It's a 1950s style bowling alley and American Diner, with excellent music and tasty food.
We had a great time last Friday, we had 2 lanes, 13 people, *some* beer, burgers and a lot of competitive egging on.
The two teams battled it out against each other for over 2 hours, with no clear victor. It's possible that Rob might have slipped down the alley on his shiny bowling shoes, no one can really remember, thankfully!
There's a problem at Fanatic towers. Certain members of the team seem to be struggling with the art of making a cup of tea (we wont mention any names, IAN.)
Now, I have to say at this point that i'm not a tea drinker (yuck! It's simply dirty water in my mind), but i do sympathise with Laura's daily complaints that her freshly brewed cup of tea is only half full (or should that be half empty?)
To overcome this i did a little research to find out if there was a training course, or a training aid of some kind to help Ian progress with his tea-making skills and I think we've found it!
This 'Braun Bell Mug For Precision Pouring' has an in-built speaker which sounds an alarm when the water level reaches a pre-determined level. Genius i'm sure you'll agree.
I'm not sure we can really justify the extortionate price tag however. Sorry Laura, you'll just have to keep that glass of 'emergency top-up water' on your desk at all times...
We're busy, Ian & David are on their holidays (not together, I don't think so anyway?!), and it's HOT HOT HOT up here in the Loft. We have the fans on, windows open, water cooling, melon in the fridge, lollies..... Ouch!
If we've been a bit quiet on the blog front recently, it's because it's been pretty hectic here.
We've produced some really exciting and varied pitch work - from the Leisure & Tourism sector to Education, including some conceptual work for Bristol Zoo & Westonbirt School. We were able to get very creative with illustration, photography and 3D work, which was very refreshing and energising for the team.
Time will tell and results will hopefully follow over in the News section!
In the mean time, keep cool and enjoy the weather (while it lasts!).
Laura.
Leanne came in for lunch, about a year since leaving to have baby Finlay. Here he is trying her old workstation for size!
After a presentation on Tuesday of our ongoing work with the Aviva Stadium (Dublin) Meeting and Events Team Dave and I went on another site visit of the Stadium construction site to get a feel for the spaces that we are marketing.
Dave probably has the best handle on fashion out of everyone at Fanatic, but reached new heights with this glam look! There were wellies too!
